As the needle starts back up after going clear down, a small loop should form on the side of the needle away from teh operator. The shuttle has a point that goes through this loop to snag the upper thread and carry it over the top of the bobbin. Also verify that needle is propely seated. If an accident has happened with the machine that MIGHT have disturbed the timing, then that could be the cause and one would have to take it for repair. Slowly watch for the loop, with covers off, and manually cycle to watch for the operation I have described. Posted on Dec 03, 2010.
